Clark Country School District

CCSD Mission:

Clark County School District students will have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and ethics necessary to succeed academically and will practice responsible citizenship.

CCSD Boundaries:

The Clark County School District encompasses all of Clark County, which covers 7,910 square miles and includes the metropolitan Las Vegas area, all outlying communities and rural areas. Under state law, each of Nevada’s 17 counties has one school district responsible for K-12 education. .

 

Student Enrollment:

The Clark County School District is the fifth largest school district in the United States: :

•2004-05 enrollment – 280,834 students s
•2003-04 enrollment – 268,357 students s
•1999-00 enrollment – 217,492 students s

The district operates 317 schools as of the 2005-06 school year: :

New schools / school modernization:

The district operates one of the nation’s largest school construction and modernization programs. Approximately $3.7 billion will be spent through 2008 to build new schools and improve existing schools. The district opened 11 new schools in the fall of 2005 (seven elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school). One special school will open in January 2006. Ten schools are scheduled to open in August 2006.
